METKA GROUP | ANNUAL REPORT 2014 - page 4-5

In recent years, the Greek economy has been facing
unprecedented conditions and continuous challenges,
to which METKA has managed to respond successfully.
In 2014, METKA remained a consistently strong
performer. In particular, the company’s turnover in 2014
stood at
609.3 million, up from
606.5 million in 2013,
with net profits after tax standing at
90.3 million against
91.6 million in 2013. For yet another year, key to the
achievement of the business goals and to the company’s
performance was the contribution from METKA’s people,
who responded in the best possible way, meeting the
needs and business challenges.
During 2014, committed to its export-oriented strategy,
METKA continued the successful execution of the
contracts it has been awarded abroad, whilst also
managing todeal effectivelywith the unstable environment
in the markets of the Middle East. The company also took
important steps in the domestic market, starting a major
railway infrastructure project for ERGOSE.
A key driver of the company’s course in 2014 was the
export performance of its manufacturing plant in Volos,
with exports accounting for 95% of its total production.
This performance will be further strengthened following
the Management’s decision to invest
6 million in modern,
specialized machinery and equipment in order to cope
with the increased volume of exports that we anticipate
for the immediate future.

A key driver of the company’s course
in 2014 was the exporting performance
of its manufacturing plant in Volos,
with exports accounting for 95%
of its total production
In the EPC Projects sector and
in the construction of power
generation plants in particular,
despite facing now a serious
global recession for the 4th
consecutive year, METKA’s
performance was not affected
again in 2014. However,
undertaking new projects with
an acceptable risk-reward
profile has become increasingly
difficult, even for our company,
which is ranked among the
global leaders in its sector.
Nevertheless,
encouraging
messages have started to come
from Africa, where METKA has
been systematically building
its local presence over the last
three years, with tangible results
expected in the near future.
Fully aware of the difficulties
ahead, we look ahead to the
future with confidence. We
are equally confident about
METKA’s activities, not only
abroad but also in Greece, for
which we are optimistic and
which we support with all our
strength.
