Introduction
SERVISTEEL S.A. was founded in 1982 and has its headquarters in the Industrial Area of Volos. The company is a subsidiary of MYTILINEOS Group of Companies and operates within the metal constructions market, with a broad list of international and Greek clientele.
As a steel service centre, SERVISTEEL deals mainly with the first phase of the fabrication process, specifically the cutting and forming of sheet metal and/or steel sections. The company’s industrial facilities are on fully owned land, with total 103,400 m2 surface area, of which 13,900 m2 is a fully covered production-office area and another 7,000 m2 is an outdoor storehouse, equipped with bridge cranes for raw material handling.
The Company has made significant investments in infrastructure facilities and in mechanical equipment for the first phase of steel fabrication, and also, in hiring trained personnel with substantial experience. The long experience of the personnel combined with automated machines of high accuracy, enable achievement of demanding tolerances and construction standards.
Equipment and Certifications
The production machines are controlled by Computer-aided design (CAD) and Computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software programmes which ensure the best possible use of raw material. The jigs and fixtures are also designed and developed by the technical department. The production and warehousing are controlled by SAP management systems linked to those of METKA.
SERVISTEEL is certified according to EN ISO 9001: 2008 Quality Management System.
SERVISTEEL’s factory is equipped with a broad range of equipment, including:
- Three MESSER – GRIESSHEIM units: digital drive, 4-oxy-fuel-cutting-heads, 7m X 24m cutting table for plates up to 300 mm thickness. One of the three units bears an extra (fifth) oxy-fuel-Contour Bevel-cutting-head that provides weld preparation edges
- KJELLBERG, CNC – Plasma cutting machine, for plates 7m X 24m and thickness up to 40 mm
- HUGH-SMITH, Edge milling machine for plates up to 18 m, for extremely demanding welding
- ESAB welding machine, Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) automation method for 5m X 18m plates
- Press brake of 800 t and 5000 mm width
- Rolling mill 3200 mm wide, for cylindrical and conical metal sheets with thickness up to 60 mm
- Sandblasting units with metallic shred in closed chamber
Recently SERVISTEEL has invested in power production and has installed a photo-voltaic (PV) plant of 2,50 ΜWp on the company’s land in the Industrial Area of Volos. This PV plant was connected to the grid in January 2012.
